Creekside Mountain Retreat: your basecamp for adventure! Steps away from the Appalachian Trail, this refuge is bordered by Cherokee National Forest and Laurel Fork Creek. On property activities include fishing, creek playing/swimming, hiking, stargazing (no light pollution here) and of course, ping pong. With a picnic and hammock area by the creek, outdoor pavilion with fireplace for al fresco dining and s’mores, plenty of board games and no TV/Wi-fi, you can finally disconnect and reconnect!

The space

This cozy cottage is big on outdoors but can still sleep up to 3 families. The house is best described as a modern dogtrot. The main part of the home contains the living/kitchen/dining area, master bedroom with king bed and en suite bathroom, lofted bunk room, full guest bath and laundry closet. This part of the house is connected to the secondary part of the home via the “dogtrot” or screened-in porch (complete with ping pong table). The secondary part of the home includes 2 bedrooms, both with queen beds, which share a Jack and Jill bathroom. The property also boasts an immaculate timber frame pavilion complete with a massive wood-burning fireplace. Laurel Fork Creek borders the front edge of the parcel and is every kid’s favorite place to splash an afternoon away. Additionally, there are only 5 houses on this dead-end street with only one of those being lived in full-time so there is virtually no traffic.

Guest access

Guests are welcome to use anything and everything on site from the full-service kitchen to the full-size Weber grill or picking from the apple trees and raspberry bushes in the summer. The only inaccessible space is the old root cellar which we now use for storage, it is locked. We have a tankless hot water heater for endless hot water as well as a full size washer and dryer. Please note that the loft area where the bunk beds are located is only accessible by the built-in ladder, photos included in the listing.

Interaction with guests

This is a second home and in the mountains so we are not available nearby for assistance. Cell phone service is spotty at best (one of the reasons we love it here!) but we do have a landline for emergencies or in case you need to reach us. Lastly, if you happen to be staying over the weekend, our loveable handyman George will probably be by at some point for trash pick-up and will likely stop in to see if your stay is going well and may even introduce you to his fabulous goldendoodle, Rhemi!

Other things to note

There is a small woodshed by the pavilion where you will find firewood for your use in the wood burning fireplace in the pavilion. However, if you find yourself needing more, there is a larger stack of wood at the rear of the property you are welcome to help yourself to!
